Cape Echizen

越前岬

Fukui · Chubu

A dramatic 130m basalt headland on the Echizen coast north of Tojinbo, marked by a white lighthouse and cut by wind and wave-carved formations along the shoreline. From late December to February the surrounding cliffs bloom with wild Echizen suisen (narcissus), one of Japan's three great naturalized narcissus colonies.

Why it's hidden

Most visitors stop at Tojinbo and never continue up the coast to this second, arguably wilder headland.
