養老天命反転地

Gifu · Chubu

An 18,000m² experimental 'anti-architecture' art park created by Shusaku Arakawa and Madeline Gins (opened 1995) inside Yoro Park — sloped, tilted, and disorienting pavilions designed to destabilize visitors' sense of balance and perception. Nine pavilions across dramatic terrain.

Why we picked it

A world-class conceptual-art landmark that barely registers on Western Japan-travel radars — completely overshadowed by Naoshima/teamLab as Japan's 'art destination', despite being one-of-a-kind and easily paired with Yoro Falls in the same park.
