Ponshukan is a sake hall inside Echigo-Yuzawa station where a wall of vending machines pours measures from around ninety Niigata breweries. A five-coin token buys five small cups, taken with coarse salt and miso at the counter. The same complex holds a rice-ball counter and a bath house whose water is cut with sake.
