Hozukyo Station
保津峡駅Kyoto · Kansai
保津峡駅 is built directly on a steel bridge over the Hozu River gorge, held between tunnels on both ends, so the platform itself is suspended above the water with forested cliffs rising on either side. Boats running the Hozugawa river-rafting route pass beneath it, and there are no houses in sight from the platform — the nearest settlement, Mizuo, a village known for its yuzu citrus, is about 4 km north. It has been described by Kyoto guides as one of the region's more unusual stations for a station built with no surrounding town at all.

How to get there
On the JR Sagano Line (San-in Main Line), about 20 minutes from Kyoto Station. The station itself is a bridge suspended between two tunnels over the Hozu River gorge, straddling the Ukyo-ku (Kyoto City) and Kameoka boundary. The separate Torokko Hozukyo sightseeing-railway stop is a different station, about a 15-minute walk away.
