Biei Blue Pond is a shallow, milky-blue pond in the hills above Biei, its colour caused by mineral particles held in suspension and made stark by the bare tree trunks still standing in the water. The pond itself is free; parking costs ¥500 for a car and ¥100 for a motorbike. Most visitors spend about half an hour here, and it is roughly 20 minutes by bus from Biei Station.
