箱根彫刻の森美術館
Stay ~1h 30m
Chokokunomori Station
The Hakone Open-Air Museum charges ¥2,000 for a same-day adult ticket (¥1,800 booked online in advance) and stops admitting visitors at 16:30, so it does not work as a late-afternoon stop. Its sculptures stand outdoors across a hillside site with the Hakone mountains behind them, and there is a Picasso pavilion and a foot bath fed by hot spring water within the grounds.

根津神社
Stay ~2h
Keisei Ueno Station
Nezu Shrine is one of Tokyo's oldest shrines, its 1706 buildings surviving intact, with a tunnel of small vermilion torii gates climbing the hillside that recalls Fushimi Inari yet is often overlooked by visitors. The traditional architecture and enclosed grounds keep it quiet most of the year. Its azalea slope holds around 3,000 shrubs of some 100 varieties, flowering from early April into May.
