Shikinejima is a small island in the Izu group whose draw is a set of free open-air hot springs built into the rocks at the shoreline, Jinata and Ashitsuki among them. A separate indoor bathhouse charges ¥200. Reaching the island means a ferry from Shimoda or Ito, which makes it an overnight destination rather than a day trip.

Rental car recommended
Several stops on this route are in rural areas with limited rail access. A rental car from the nearest city hub gives you the freedom to reach places no bus serves.
