Jingo-ji Temple Takao

Jingo-ji Temple sits high in the mountains of Takao, reached by a long stone stairway up from the Kiyotaki River, with weathered wooden halls and a history reaching back to the 8th century that makes it a significant cultural site in Kyoto. From the terrace visitors throw clay discs (kawarake-nage) out over the valley. Its maples turn in early to mid-November, ahead of the city temples.
