Mount Sanbe

三瓶山

Shimane · Chugoku

An active stratovolcano with six peaks (highest point Osanbe, 1,126m) forming part of Daisen-Oki National Park, offering multiple hiking courses, alpine meadows, and views over the Iwami region and the Sea of Japan.

Why it's hidden

One of the region's few genuinely well-known natural landmarks, but it draws mostly domestic day-hikers rather than the foreign tourist crowds seen at Fuji or other national parks.
