Yonago Castle Ruins

米子城跡

Tottori · Chugoku

The ruins of a former hilltop castle on Mount Iinoyama overlooking Yonago and the Sea of Japan, originally completed in 1601. Demolished in 1874, only its stone walls and terraces survive today, protected as a National Historic Site since 2006. The summit offers panoramic views toward Mount Daisen and Lake Nakaumi.

Why we picked it

Yonago is usually passed straight through on the way to Sakaiminato or Mt. Daisen, so few travellers make the short climb up to these nationally protected castle ruins and the panorama waiting at the top.
